"But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive." -Genesis 50:20 NKJV
In 2019, the NFL fined Demario Davis, linebacker for the New Orleans Saints, for wearing a “Man of God” headband during the Week 3 matchup versus the Seattle Seahawks. He was fined because his headband was a uniform violation. Davis appealed the fine and won. Not only did he win, but he used the money he received to benefit a hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.
As Christians, we must understand that we will face persecution for being men and women of God. However, we must also understand the importance of being strong in the Lord because “those who endure to the end will be saved” (Matthew 24:13). Whenever the enemy tries to negatively affect you, God will turn it around for your good so that He will receive the glory.
Davis could have easily kept the money since he won the fine appeal, but he apparently understood the principle of Luke 12:48: “To whom much is given, much is required.” We all must understand that we are blessed to be a blessing to others.
