"So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor." -1 Peter 5:6 NLT
In his first three NFL seasons out of the University of California, Aaron Rodgers was a backup quarterback for the Green Bay Packers behind star quarterback and Hall of Famer, Brett Favre. During those years, I’m sure that he wanted to start but he was able to learn a great deal from Favre. Brett Favre certainly wouldn’t be a bad person to learn from. He finished his career as an 11-time Pro Bowler, a three-year MVP, and a Super Bowl Champion who has thrown for 71,838 career yards and 508 career touchdowns.
In 2008, Brett Favre was traded to the New York Jets. From that point, the reserve quarterback, Aaron Rodgers had his opportunity to lead the Pack. Rodgers has risen to the occasion. In 2011, he led the Packers as they won Super Bowl XLV and was named the Super Bowl MVP.
Rodgers is a two-time NFL MVP, an eight-time Pro Bowler, and a two-time All Pro. It is safe to say that he has been able to take full advantage of his opportunity. Although, he wasn’t able to start at the beginning of his career, he was able to learn and grow to be the best NFL quarterback that he can possibly be.
Have you ever had small beginnings?
-Have you ever suffered, wondering when God would bring you into a better situation?
-Have you been on your job for a long period of time, have excelled tremendously and you wonder if or when you will be promoted?
If any of these situations describes you or someone else that you know, please know that God has a plan for your life. Just as the earth’s seasons change, God allows us to go through various seasons in our lives. Through those seasons, He will help us to know how to endure various circumstances as we grow in our relationship with Him and allow Him to take full control of our lives. As we allow God to take full control of our lives, we can trust that He knows what is best for us.
Often, God allows us to face trials and tribulations or desires that we wait for a breakthrough because He wants our faith and our reliance on Him to increase. His goal is always for us to grow in our relationship with Him and ultimately become more like Christ.
You may be thinking, “I have been looking to grow in God. I have been trusting God. I have been patient. I have been living holy and right. I have been single for so long. When is my husband or wife is coming?” There may be many questions that enter your mind. I want to encourage you and that God loves you. Continue to live for Him and trust Him. Allow Him to build character and patience within you. The sky is the limit for what God can and will do in your life. God may not come when you want Him to but He is ALWAYS on time. He never fails!
God helps us to endure difficult seasons.
